Our History

Can you believe SAC has been around for more than 6 decades?

As we weave the tapestry of our club's future, we're reminded of the rich heritage that has been our guiding star since 1959. Our founder, Elma Swails, an impassioned watercolorist with a vision as vibrant as her palette, dreamed of a sanctuary for artists. Her dream was not just any gathering place, but a nurturing ground where like-minded souls could flourish, honing their skills and techniques amidst the warmth of fellowship, unwavering in their support for one another.

She envisioned an inclusive haven, free from the barriers of judgment, where every stroke of the brush, every dab of color, every artistic pursuit was celebrated with equal fervor. Her heartfelt aspiration for our club was, "May all our creative arts be given equal consideration and may all our members share equal rights." These words are the cornerstone of our philosophy and continue to resonate within the heart of our community.

As we uphold her legacy, we invite you to join us in this ongoing celebration of creativity, where every artist is valued, and every masterpiece tells a story. Together, let's honor our past and paint a future where our collective dreams soar on the canvas of possibility.
