Monthly Art Competitions

Just for fun and a gift card, we hold a monthly art competition at each meeting. Points are given: 3=1st place, 2= 2nd place, and 1 = 3rd place. At the end of the year points are tallied and winners from both categories are announced and given a prize. TBD of a token amount.

  1. Bring your artwork (doesn’t need to be framed) to the meeting to compete in the monthly art competition.

  2. Place your artwork in the Gold or Platinum category, and note the letter or number assigned to your artwork. Write your name, the title and medium of your work on the line for your letter or number.

  3. That’s it! Don’t forget to pick up your artwork after the meeting.

  4. If you win first place, the Coordinator will contact you and give you the

number/email of the previous months’ winner so that you can coordinate an exchange to hang your winning piece in either the Bean Scene or Sunnyvale Library. Please refer to exhibiting etiquette info on page 16.

Winning artwork is replaced at the beginning of next month. So, if you won in Feb, you would coordinate with January’s winner to hang your art as they remove their art from the spot.

There are two categories for competing in the monthly competition, Gold & Platinum. Winners will be voted 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place in each category. If you win 1st place, you will be expected to talk about your artwork, your inspiration, technique, and other information as expected of artists. Winning artworks will be shown on both the group FB page and in our monthly newsletter.

GOLD

PLATINUM

When you are new to the club, you're invited to participate in the Gold category, regardless of your level of skill. Artwork should match the monthly theme. 1st place Gold winners exhibit their artwork at the Bean Scene Café on Murphy St, in a place by the window designated with a sign for our club.

Those who have won First place in the GOLD category 3 times, move to the Platinum Category to compete. You will continue to compete in the Platinum category until changes to the competition are made in the future. 1st place Platinum winners will exhibit their work at the Sunnyvale Library (next to the fireplace).
