Meet Connie Chen: A Journey of Art and Beauty

We are thrilled to announce that our next club meeting will feature a captivating artist demonstration by Connie Chen, a distinguished Ikebana artist and instructor. Born in Taiwan and relocating to the United States in 1993, Connie embarked on her Ikebana journey in 1999 under the mentorship of Fusako Hoyrup Sensei at the Wafu School.

 

An Accomplished Ikebana Artist

 

Currently holding a Gakukan degree in Ikebana, Connie is an active member of numerous Ikebana organizations, including the Wafu Ikebana Society, Wafu School of Ikebana California Chapter, Ikebana International SF Bay Area Chapter, and the Ikebana Teachers Federation SF Bay Area. As the President of the Wafu Ikebana Society and a dedicated instructor, she teaches Ikebana Beginner classes at Fremont Unified School District Adult Education in Sunnyvale, CA. Additionally, Connie serves as the Recording Secretary for the Ikebana Teachers Federation in the Bay Area.

 

A Passion for Sharing Beauty

 

Beyond her organizational roles, Connie has demonstrated and exhibited her Ikebana at a variety of prestigious flower shows. Her work has been featured at events organized by the Wafu School of Ikebana California Chapter, the Cherry Blossom Festival in Cupertino and San Francisco, the Ikebana Teachers Federation in the Bay Area, the Ikebana International SF Bay Area Chapter, the Culture Center of Taipei Office in Milpitas CA, and the renowned Bouquets to Art event at the De Young Museum in San Francisco.

Ikebana has been a transformative experience for Connie, revealing the profound beauty of nature through the art of flower arrangement. She finds immense joy and fulfillment in Ikebana, discovering infinite ways for flowers to bring hope and beauty into our lives.
